Employees at Södra

“I like solving problems”, Ingvar Berg

Södra Interiör’s line of business is to develop, manufacture and market customised interior products made from solid wood for the home and public areas. Ingvar Berg is the IT Administrator for the business, which is located at seven different sites in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and he is based at the Kallinge unit in Blekinge. As IT Administrator, Ingvar works with a wide range of areas, from software to hardware, from network management within the Group to business systems and internal communication.
“I’m enjoying myself. I’m essentially a graduate in Economics, but I’ve always worked with technology – as IT Administrator, I’ve a use for both subjects.”
According to Ingvar, the challenge he faces in his work is to provide tools that are useful and that are appreciated by other employees.
“I like solving problems. Managing projects, gaining the support of others and making progress is the best feeling there is. It feels good when everyone is going in the same direction,” says Ingvar.

“I learn something new everyday”, Eva Lindesprång

“The best thing about the job is that it requires both forestry and social skills. I also like the feeling of working for the good of the forest together with the other members.
In my job, I’m involved in the whole process, from planting to felling to planting,” says Eva Lindespång, Area Inspector for Södra Skog in South Halland, Sweden. Her most important task is offering advice to members. Eva learns new things all the time in her meetings with members. None of the members work in exactly the same way and there is no obvious right or wrong method.
“I learn something new everyday,” says Eva.

“It’s about making the right analyses”, Mattias Korskulle
Mattias Korskulle has always been interested in working with electricity and analytical instruments. Working as an Instrument Technician in the Chemical and Power Department at Södra Cell Värö, Mattias has an outlet for his interest. “I’m constantly able to develop here due to the continual investment in modern equipment,” says Mattias.
Mattias works with Formulas & Control Systems for the recovery boiler, bark boiler, oil boiler and the turbine. It is about making sure that all the transmitters have high availability. Making sure that the instruments are calibrated so that all the transmitters have the best precision possible, all of the time, is important. In the end, quality is dependent on all transmitters and analysers being at an optimum level. Even the emission of fumes, for example, depends on Mattias Korskulle keeping an eye on all analytical instruments.
“It’s about making the right analyses,” says Mattias.

“Oh, I was so wrong!”, Carina Friberg

Carina Friberg is the supervisor for the components department and sorting line at Södra Interiör. She has been working there since year 2000. The nature of her position means that she has two roles. In production – in the components hall, for example, she ensures that tile trims and LED light strips end up in the right place. Her other role is in the more strategic field with specific personnel responsibilities. She also manages various projects in order to increase productivity within the business.
Carina, who previously worked as a farm relief worker, never dreamed that she could end up working in a factory. “Oh, I was so wrong! Working here is fun, I’m really enjoying myself and feel extremely motivated, especially with the opportunities for development that are open to me,” says Carina.
