Life as a trainee

Here you can read comments from former trainees about the reasons for applying to the Södra trainee programme and about their experiences during the year.

“You get an overview of the company and a deeper understanding of what goes on. You learn how things are really experienced out in the company. You build up a contact network, get an exciting start to your working life and a great job at the end of the programme. I would definitely recommend applying to the Södra trainee programme. Perhaps we’ll meet this autumn!”
Mattias Helin, trainee 2005-2006, now sales and logistics manager at Södra Cell’s London office

“The trainee year involved a lot of stimulating activities and we got the chance to see Södra’s operations from a number of angles. The meetings at head office were combined with work in our home unit and field trips to see things like sawmill production or the project department at Mönsterås.  If there was anything you wanted to see or learn it was always possible.”
Ylva Thorn-Andersen, trainee 2005-2006, now works with forestry planning at Södra Cell in Växjö

“I gained an excellent overview of everything – the pulp industry, forest, sawmills… The contact network I built up during the year is worth gold. It’s so much easier to contact other units when you’ve met the people there previously. The trainee programme is a fantastic entrance into the company!”
Nilla Dahlin, trainee 2003-2004, now process engineer at Södra Cell Mörrum
