The 1930s were hard times for the forest owners of Småland. The strong-willed Gösta Edström gathered a group of forest owners and on 18 February 1938 founded the association that is today Södra. 70 years later, Södra is owned by 52,000 family forest owners and has a revenue of SEK 18 billion. This year we also celebrate 50 years as one of the world’s biggest suppliers of pulp. How did it come about?
