Södra’s research work in the Forest and Forest Energy sector is conducted primarily in collaboration with research institutes, technical colleges and universities. The objective of this research is to achieve sustainable and high forestry production, from which we can all benefit. Many projects also involve the development of wood-based products.
Södra Skog’s research covers economic forest production in South Sweden, cultivation materials, forest regeneration, wood use and production systems. The results of research presented in recent years are already showing effects in our operations, and hence our members’ forestry operations. This can range from stump treatment to prevent root rot and the prevention of pine weevils to the development of thinning templates.
Södra Skogsenergi works closely with a number of energy companies that are planning new power stations. The development of fast, simple and reliable methods for energy gauging and reporting energy content are important areas for research and development.
